WHAT THE CUSTOMER NEEDED?
Danfoss Redan A/S is among the world’ leading within production of modern and reliable substations and a longtime customer of Mekoprint. A new Redan product, a fully insulated district heating unit for private homes called Akva Lux II VXI, was developed in the spring of 2015.
The challenge was to develop a two-tier front panel as part of the fully insulated solution. In the design of the upper part of the front panel, emphasis was on user friendliness. For this reason, the upper part is removable, which makes access to control, reading and servicing of the unit simple. The lower part of the front panel is glued to the frame so that it hides the built-in air ducts.
WHICH SOLUTION WAS CHOSEN?
Mekoprint was involved in the development of the front panel during the final stage of product development. The requirement was that the front panel should have an attractive front, a readily removable upper part and a lower part that concealed its air ducts. At the same time, no color difference between the two parts was acceptable.
The upper part is made of a 3 mm acrylic plate with a glassy surface and a lower part made of 1 mm polycarbonate foil - both silk screen printed.
A cable holder to secure cables and wires in the unit was further developed and produced in a 1 mm polyester foil.
WHAT WERE THE BENEFITS?
"In Danfoss Redan, aesthetics is weighed on par with user friendliness. We do not compromise ─ and got valuable sparring in the design of the front panel with a view to achieving the highest possible standard for the front panel. A Redan district heating unit has a long life. Therefore it is important that the robustness of the screen print and the strength of the material assisting in ensuring that the unit exudes the quality that we at Danfoss Redan is known for ─ also after many years of use".
