What the customer needed?
VIKING is a market leader in maritime safety, providing and servicing essential safety equipment for vessels, offshore installations, the defence sector, industrial fire fighting and leisure yachts.
Firemen work in tough environments for which reason it is extremely important that their equipment is resistant to external influences and in perfect condition.
VIKING came into contact with Mekoprint when they had the idea to develop an intelligent fireman’s suit with keypads that would warn the fireman against high temperatures and dangerous gases developed during a fire. It had to be flexible, with integrated PCBA and resistant to washing at high temperatures.

Area Sales Manager, Mekoprint A/S
Which solution was chosen?
The silicone rubber keypad with integrated LEDs is made of co-molded UL-94V0 in black and semi-transparent and an adhesive sealant.
Silicone resists to short-term exposure to temperatures up to 350°C and long-term up to 250°C and is self-extinguishable, in this way
What were the benefits?
VIKING had an optimal cooperation with Mekoprint’s technically skilled staff in making the special design that offers a unique combination of high heat transmissibility at temperature sensors and low heat transmissibility on other areas to protect PCBA against heat.
Final assembly was made possible due to Mekoprint’s knowhow of adhesive sealant.
