Expanded Mechanics factory with new coil technology
As customer requirements rise, we keep up by ensuring the necessary capacity and efficiency.
That’s why we’ve invested in new machinery and more space for coil punching and deep draw in a new, optimised production flow able to support high quality even better than before.
There are still a couple of weeks to go before a new, 2,000 m2 factory building swings into operation at Mekoprint Mechanics in Aalborg. The raw concrete walls were put up a few weeks ago and the topping-out ceremony held, but it won’t be long before the empty space is filled with the rhythmic thump of an advanced deep draw coil press, able to supplement the rest of our coil machinery in producing millions of items for Mekoprint Mechanics customers.
“We’ve always been a business that develops in line with its customers,” says Karl Bendtsen, Director of Mekoprint Mechanics. “So when some of our biggest customers are enjoying growth and placing bigger orders for supplies with us, we decided to expand and concentrate all our coil activities with a totally new 315 tonne coil line with fully-automatic degreasing as part of our existing factory”.
More capacity – more customer benefit
The expansion of coil production will bind Mechanics business units even better together.
“The expansion will give us a dedicated, coil-specialist area, improving flow for all product areas housed in the 17,000 m2 factory. Customers who need machined and turnkey solutions will also benefit from our investment thanks to generally enhanced flow through the factory,” explains Bendtsen.
The expansion of coil production is closely related to Mekoprint’s promise of commitment and obligation to its customers.
“Our customers expect three things of us: the right quality, delivery on time and the right price. These are the criteria for being able to deal with each other. But they also expect that when their needs for volume grow, we can keep up – and still offer the sharpest prices. The new factory will give us more efficient flow, boost our competitiveness and ability to supply with capacity for new business.
Experts in design-to-cost
And it’s not just high volume customers who will benefit from Mekoprint’s expertise within the Mechanics area. Many customers have their own engineers in-house who are first class at product design, and benefit from being able to work closely with Mekoprint’s specialists. “We really become a valuable trading partner when we can get involved at the development phase with our customers,” says Bendtsen. “This is where we can bring our expertise within “design-to-cost” to bear – i.e. how we can work together to optimise product design in relation to production utilising the latest and best technology. This is the element of working with the customer we look forward to even more in the future”.
